Exercise: Childrens Book Cover

This exercise wants me to produce an illustration for a new educational book called Animals around the world. To begin the exercise off I started reading some blog posts about book cover design.  https://www.designhill.com/design-blog/evolution-of-book-cover-design/ The first blog post centred around the evolution of book cover design and how it has changed over time to fit the tastes of the era, one thing I got from the post was that you should embrace the trends of the era. If you are trying to get your book to be seen on the shelves you have to make it visually interesting and pop.  I was then intrigued to find out what these trends were, I found a blog post centred around the current book cover trends of 2019 and it was so interesting to see. What was interesting was I look at a lot of book covers but actually seeing these trends listed and makes you step back and think, "Oh Yeah" that is a trend. Exercise: Museum Posters

To start this exercise off I highlighted and analysed the exercise sheet. I started to note down my thought processes around the sides of the exercise and the first things that came to my mind. I often mind that I can forget certain things and need to have that written reminder just to keep me focused. Now the first thing I noted down was that I do not live anywhere near a museum so I don't have access to one, now I did think about travelling to one however I thought for the outcome It would give me I could use the internet to source photos. The museum I chose was the Louvre. Now it just so happens that earlier this year I was in Paris and did visit the Louvre so I could use my own photos as reference, which I was quite excited about.
