Assignment 1: Reflection

Let's just start by saying, I loved this Assignment. It's really helped to harness my creativity, submitting 3 postcards that expressed my personality and interests wasn't easy, it's like when someone asks what you want to eat, your mind just goes blank. But what I started was just brainstorming what represented me. As a budding designer, I can say that some sort of planning is one of the best things you can do when being creative, I find that as I'm sketching, ideas come to me faster than If I opened photoshop. For me, this is because I can get ideas onto paper with a pencil so much faster and because my mind literally spews out ideas (some terrible) once I get going, it's important to be able to record. Another thing I wanted to address before getting into each piece was how I struggled to be creative. At times I would be sat at my desk and literally have a block, no ideas would flow and I would end up just getting frustrated, now this may sound cheesy (like I

Discovering new inspiration

I have been interested in Art and Design for a long time, but I've always been viewing modern art and digital creations. The movement is also meant to promote radical social reforms, I'm not an expert on Russian politics but this seems to be representing Lenin and is socialism movement. What I love about this piece is it incorporates and combines different media, it gives off th

The beginning

Ive officially started my graphic design degree at OCA and Im so enthusiastic and eager to start, overall I consider myself to be a very creative person, I enjoy graphic design and art in my spare time, and even at a young age began to produce designs for other people, mainly small pieces such as youtube banners. From a young age this set off a spark, and from then I've wanted to progress my skills as much as possible. Starting this degree is the beginning of not only my career but the beginning of a path of self expression. Having something to work towards and complete will give me the opportunity I've been looking for to progress my skills and produce work I'm proud of. I want this course to further my understanding of graphic design and the skills required to be successful at it in the years to come
